This really highlights the fact that you need to do some research before hiring a personal trainer. I would recommend asking for references and then following up with them. This is a great way to perform some due diligence before entrusting your body and well being to anyone who calls themselves a personal trainer.

Certified or not - not all trainers know what they are doing. And not all trainers focus on the safe implementation of fitness programs.

Joey,

I agree. Not all Certified PTs are safe. Some PT are not even certified. Just because someone has big muscles, it does not mean they know what they are doing. I have been a PT for over 35 yrs and I make sure I do a total body assessment before I start a personal training program with anyone to find out where the person is physically and he/she is capable of doing strength wise. I will purchase your Lower Body Workout book soon. I'm enjoying reading our articles. Thanks. Marty
