There are often concepts in daily life that apply to more than just one aspect of the things that are most important to you. For example – there are many lessons that I’ve learned in the business of fitness that I carry over into my personal fitness and nutrition plan.
One of these simple lessons has been like gold to me – and maybe it can help you too.
Several years ago I started keeping a short list of 5 questions – that I would answer, from scratch, every 6 – 8 weeks. As simple as this sounds – it has helped me stay focused and clear on my goals and my true intentions.
Before I started doing this – I found that I would unintentionally ‘drift off course’ – or easily get sidetracked from a major project or milestone.
Ever since I started doing this – my business, my fitness and all areas of my life have improved… And on that note I thought it would be a great idea to set up several questions that you can keep referring to every few months to help keep you focused and moving toward your goals in terms of your specific body improvement desires.

1 – How would you describe your worst problem spots, from a physical, visual perspective? From just below my hips all around the the knees. Im only 24 and I HATE the way I look. I weigh 112 lbs and my upper half and stomach are fine.. and below my knees.. its my butt hips and thighs and they’re covered in cellulite.. hate it.
2 – How do these problem areas make you feel? Angry, depressed, fearful, embarrassed, ugly, etc…? Uh.. all the above. I would LOVE to prance around in a bikini, to be able to walk down the beach to the surf board grab it and have a blast and play, without feeling self conscious.. i look at it and I just want to hide.
3 – What is your main goal for your lower body? If you could wave a magic wand over your entire lower body area – What would it look like and what would it mean to other aspects of your life? As in relationships, choice of clothes, etc, etc…? Definitely choice of clothes and relationships for sure. i want whoever I marry to love my body, all of it! And I would wear nicer fitting pants and all those cute clothes you see. A little shorter flirtier skirts, harmless but sexy. Magic wand – lift and tone and GET RID OF THE CELLULITE
4 – How would you then ‘feel’ after these improvements? Happy, sexy, attractive, empowered, confident, etc, etc…? Attrative, outgoing and able to do the sports i love with shorter shorts and not jiggling all over the place, confident.. id feel proud of how i looked.. i just dont want the flub! As I said im only 112 lbs and pretty well good everywhere else.
5 – How much time are you willing to devote, daily or every other day, to a home exercise routine in order to achieve your most coveted lower body improvement goals? 20 minutes, 35 minutes, 70 minutes, etc, etc…? I am and currently do committ an hour a day to at home exercises or trails/mtn biking. BRING EM ON!!! I want to see results!
I would love to have a super sexy flat stomach, strong thighs and a pert bottom. NO cellulite . It would make me feel good about myself, happy and confident in my body and in my clothes.

I have a gym and I have been working out on and off, but I can’t seem to stick to it! I hate working out, my whole life I didn’t have to do anything and now I am starting to slowly fill in. I look in the mirror and go, SHIT!!! What happened??? Do I HAVE to work out now? arrrrrg.

Your tips and exercises helped me a lot…however, only in the lower half of my legs…I did your exercises for about a week already and I can already feel my calves stronger.
I would say my problem area is mainly my thighs and my butt. I tried some of your exercises and combining with some cellulite cream and lotion for firming skin, it’s working. Which brings me to my next point, I am ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED of cellulite on my thighs and my butt, I’m a swimming instructor and it just doesn’t look good with that when I’m teaching.
I am a pesitarian, so there is a limit as to what I can eat and I have been watching over my diet; no heavy cream, fast food, I eat whole wheat. So I have a very healthy diet.
Your exercises made me feel confident about my body and I am willing to devote at least two hours everyday for exercises (I watch a lot of TV, so I usually do your exercises during commercial breaks or boring moments of the TV show)
I am actually interested to know how to shape my legs, get rid of my cellulite areas and how to tone them so they look their best. I have muscular thighs before because I was an athlete, now I just want them back by some toning and firming, I don’t really need skinny legs. Send me more articles.
Cellulite on the back of the legs, although I am almost 55. I am fine in my clothes but will not wear shorts or a swim suit and I live in San Diego. I box, I spin and I do resistance training 5 days a week, walk the dog 7 days a week and nothing changes, but at least it is not getting worse!

I work in an office and I would like to be able to wear clothes like the other girls in the office do. Nothing looks good on me!!! My boyfriend use to never point out my flaws, until one day we were hiking up a hill and he made a comment about how all the girls are soooo pretty and there I was with all my rolls hanging out….ouch! It makes me not want to do outside activities around other people.

I’m 39 years old my height is 5′6 and weight is 132 lbs. I have 3 boys and never had to worry about my weight. I’ve always tried to work out at least 3 to 4 times a week. My problem area is what some people call the Saddle bag the side of your thighs and some cellulite on my legs. I do at least 25 to 30 min. of cardio. and some light weight lifting. I also do lunges. I have a dimple on my left thigh and was wondering if that would possible ever go away?

1. My REAL problem spots are all upper, belly, and that piece of flesh that seems to pop out between my strappy tops and my shoulders/under arms! As for my lower half, it’s just the bit of flesh on the top of my inner thighs and my hips, kind of fleshy & wobbly.
2. At the moment as my holidays are 3.5 weeks away quite depressed and low. I wouldn’t say unattractive but am dreading baring all!

1) legs have cellulite and no tone to them. I’m about 15lbs overweight, stomach no longer flat, arms no longer toned.

I would like to slim down my legs yet maintain my muscel. I have the common problem of being in shape and working out smartly yet I suffer from cellulite… not bad but bad enough to make me wonder if I’m working out hard enough.

I am currently deployed to Iraq, where there is a small gym open 24 hours a day. At this point I spend about two hours a day at the gym. I do a long cardio workout and depending on the day I do lower body or upper body (both are important to me).

I am a former swimwear model so this is really hard for me to deal with, I never had issues with my weight nor cellulite.

I live with Multilple Sclerosis. Therefore, I have a problem developing in the areas that suffer from the affects of MS. I cannot for the life of me develop in my calve area. I understand that there are two different muscles in the calve area. Yet, I can get nothing to work for me. I have tried heavy weight/ low reps. Low weight/ high volume. I have tried seated/ standing/elevated. That is my worst area. My legs look like Johnny Bravo in a dress. LOL!!!

None of the above. I train from time to time. Yet, I do not and will not wear shorts to the gym or anywhere else. I would love to be able to do that. It would also help me to stay cool during my workouts oppose to the sweats I wear.

I would love to have a nice toned bottom and calves. This magic wand you speak of would allow me to have the legs for the sexy little dresses that my husband buy for me. It would also help me to feel a little more confident when MS comes to steal my day.

I workout 5, sometimes 6 days a week for a hour and 15 mins. All free weights. I do no cardio. I am 5′3″, 127lbs. My metabolism is out the roof. I take weight gain to be able to maintain the weight I do have. Oh yeah, by the way, I’m 40 years old.

not wanting to detract fromJoey here, but the common them im hearing is youll be happy WHEN – when you have tight thighs and can wear a bathing suit. You need to change your perspective. You need to be happy NOW and anything else is just gravy. its difficult to do but you need to start appreciating and loving you just as you are. If someone cut off that wibbly wobble cellutite covered leg – youd want it back wouldnt you? even if it was COVERED in cellulite and youd NEVER get rid of it?
Appreciate what you have. Get happy now. the rest will follow. If you beat yourself up cos you dont look like a model youll undoubtedly fall into traps that will keep you exactly where you are.

I would pick better clothes, they would fit me better and i would feel muh better in them. I would feel normal and would not be depressed.

On my weekdays, probably 20-30 minutes i would be able to maximum because i have school. On weekends, i would spend one hour. During holidays i am willing to spend as long as is needed because i really want results fast since my formal is coming up in just a few short months.

1 hour per day or sometimes 1/2 an hour depends on work load
1. I am 21, 5′6 and 112lbs, and I’m quite unhappy with the way my legs, butt and hips look. Luckily, I don’t have any cellulite, but these areas of my body are not as toned and thin as I would like them to be.
2. These problem areas make me feel depressed, ugly and frustrated.

Main goals:
* To decrease the size of my hips from 33.5 inches to 32.5 inches.
* To tone up and slim down my legs, especially my calves since they’re not as thin as I would like them to be.
* To decrease the size of my bum and tone it up.
* To tone up my thighs.
If I achieved these goals, I would feel sexier and more confident in skinny jeans and tights. If I could wave a magic wand over my entire lower body area, I would have the legs, bum and hips of Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosia (her pre- pregnancy body ofcourse).

1. Flabby – I was doing your stuff and pole dancing – and was getting some great results – all over…pole dancing is not for the unfit – then I tore a muscle in my right forearm and had to give it up for a while….and whilst I still exercise 2-3 times a week – I feel fatter, my clothes are definitely tighter.
2. Fatter than before, and wonder what my partner sees in me
3. UK 10-12 – that’s about a reduction of 10-15cm off the hips, tighter legs and butt
4. Amazing – I know that each area impacts on another, so getting this right will be one of the keys
5. I’d love to say as long as it takes – but I do only have a couple of spare hours a week – and those are also needed for my home business (I also work full time on another job) and as a writer one tends to sit down a lot…so anything that shortens the cycle – compounding exercises together to get the best training in a reasonable length of time would be good.
1). My lower belly – below the belly button but above the pub line. Lots of surgery there so lots of Scar tissue ! Hard to get rid of with exercise. I call it a Roo Pouch !
2). I feel embarrassed and depressed.
3). My main goal is to keep doing the LBHT Makeover and Abs Steel That I got from you. Maybe surgery to remove some scar tissue.
4) How I would feel afterward. Heck I feel great now ! I also had a lot of complements from people I don’t even know that well. Since I have been using your LBHT Makeover my energy level has shot through the roof and the weight is coming off at a decent rate of 1 to 2 pounds a week. When this pouch is gone I will feel Fantastic and like a new woman.
5). I alternate days; 3 days a week for Core, and 3 days a week for LBHT on level 2 One time at 15 to 20 reps for each exercise. I go the full length of the program plus the stretching before and After your class. I wish there were more lower belly exercises. But It just may be that the scar tissue has grown so much that I am going to have to get it removed surgically. Your programs really do work if you work them. 2 – I am disappointed in myself for letting this happens. I have always trained hard (road races, triathlons) but I really let myself go over the past year and I can’t believe how hard it is to get back to the shape I was a year ago.
3 – I have been following your program for the past 3 months and I can feel that under that layer of fat, there are very tone muscles indeed so ideally, I need to get rid of the fat. As for the rest of my body, I wouldn’t actually change a thing. I have a very flat stomach, tone upper body but I guess I would feel even sexier if I was 100% happy with my upper legs.
4 – PROUD! Proud that I have managed to get back into shape with good old hard work. I am now 33 and I know that it is getting harder to keep in shape that is why it is important for me to get the best body possible now as if I don’t, it will be even harder in two years’ time!
5 – My priority is to get those defined legs back so I am happy to temporarily sacrifice other aspects of my life to get the results I want. That means daily gym visits for cardio and resistance training.

Q1:Yuk, ugly… flabby, cellulite infested and butt and thighs. tummy a little on the flabby side, but not all bad. Hectic love handles on the hips and fat packed upper arms.
Q2:I’m not unhappy every day all day, just when i buy new clothes,look at myself in the mirror. When i am in a mood of unhapiness i feel ugly and a little depressed. I cant seem to get enough effort to help myself.
Q3: i would like my body to not have love handles or stretch marks. Would love a smooth textured skin that is tight and doesnt jiggle when you walk or run. I would like a smoother, tighter tummy, smaller boobsand a good curvacious body all roung.

Q5: At the moment with what you have sent me over the e-mail Joey i have tried to incororate it at home, but with work, church devotion and getting people fed at night i find it hard to motivate myself to excercise or actually stop doing other things and rather excercise. Ahh and swimming, id swim in a swimming out fit. not the long shorts and sleaved shirts.

Currently, I spend 45-70 mins a day, 5 d/w working on my entire body doing a combination of aerobics, jogging, cycling and strength training. I just started 2 months ago however so I have not seen any significant results except for weight loss.

1. Worst problems spots – the top of my legs so my thighs. And my bum.

A.1. From a physical perspective, my worst problem area is my mid-drift section i.e. the stomach and obliques. After having a c-section and putting on weight, I’m finding this area very difficult to shift and being naturally large breasted, I would like them to reduce in size without having an operation. An overall body fat reduction would also be nice, trying to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight too.
A.2. Angry and depressed but determined to lose it.
A.3. A bigger bum, toned legs and thighs (although I’m quite muscular). If I could wave a magic wand my entire body would look like Riannah or Ciara, showing my waistline and over all body shape.
A.4. This would make me feel very sexy, confident and happy – choice of clothes would be more sexy and I would want to show off my body.
A.5. If I could find the ultimate series of exercises to burn the fat fast (medium/intense exercises tend to make me sweat i.e. interval training). I would dedicate, within reason, 35 – 70 minutes 3-6 times a week either at the gym or at home.
NB: I also suffer with varicose veins and have found the reduction of weight so far, has improved my condition.

I’m quite a slim built person butt my butt is so huge that my proportion looks really deformed. My thighs are really thick and flabby too, especially at the inner-thigh. My worst is deffinatly my butt though. It doesn’t sag, it just goes straight out asthough it’s trying to escape my body.

1. Any gymnast knows the muscles that you build in your legs don’t stay muscle if you don’t work them… after years of gymnastics my legs were REALLY built up. Since I stopped gymnastics (years ago), that muscle in my butt and legs has become my nightmare! My legs are still big, but not muscle anymore and my butt is not my pride and joy anymore!! YUCK!

My worst problems spots…would have to be all of my lower body by far. The upper half is not is shape by no means but does not look as bad as my lower body. It is full of cellulite…staddle bags…flabby..extremely ugle!!! I have an hourglass figure, but it is not toned at all.
2 – How do these problem areas make you feel? Angry, depressed, fearful, embarrassed, ugly, etc…? All of the above! I don’t wear short, even when it is extremely hot, I am too embarrased and ashamed. I don’t feel sexy…I do feel very ugly.

As in relationships, choice of clothes, etc, etc…? Oh my goodness…a magic wand!!! I would have a toned, shapely lower body. I could wear shorts, have self confidence. I feel it would improve every aspect of my life…not that everything hangs on how I look. However if I felt great and wasn’t ashamed to even go outside, then I could do alot more with my son and husband.
4 – How would you then ‘feel’ after these improvements? Happy, sexy, attractive, empowered, confident, etc, etc…? Very confident…I would be more active…I could take my son to the park and not think twice about it. For sure all the above would apply!!!
5 – How much time are you willing to devote, daily or every other day, to a home exercise routine in order to achieve your most coveted lower body improvement goals? 20 minutes, 35 minutes, 70 minutes, etc, etc…? At this point…I am willing to do whatever it takes!!! Especially when I start seeing results.
I would say all over as far as some toning especially in my arms,thighs,and abdomin which is especially hard after my c-section and I have a little cellulite in my thighs and I would like to take off a good ten pounds I am a petite woman I a have a flat tummy but it’s not toned.I feel embarassed for abusing my over all health and I feel low on energy and I don’t have an appetite anymore I guess that’s due to the fact I’ve become so inactive.I weigh 120lbs. I am well proportioned I am big in no way but I can tell that I am in a unhealthy state because of my energy levels.Any amount of time it’ll take to get back in shape is fine by me.I just want my energy back and my appetite so I can play with my children but work outs are so routine and boring.I look great in my clothes and heads still turn most people think I’m 22 but I’m 31 so being attractive isn’t the problem I just want the old get up and go filled with energy self again.
hey joey ,i haven’t got the chance to tell you how super good your 1-8 exercises are, as i can see some progress in my thighs within 2 weeks of regular exercise.
as for the answers of your 5 questions:
1- my worst body spots are my upper arms , butt & thighs as i want to get red of cellulite in these areas .
2-sometimes i feel angry especially when my butt doesn’t look good in some clothes.
3- i want these areas to be firm , smooth & toned.
3-more confident that i can wear anything i want .

1.For more than 4 years I have a big pain on ahill`s tendons( there was not an accident at all ). First 2 year`s just on one leg, then on both. The dr.`s say it is the aged problem, so I can do nothing. The pain is very strong at night. The tendons are sensitive all the time and at the touch and thicking.
I know, that if I loose some kilos(15), and making the wright exercises I can strenghten my body and my health.

Currently, i spend approx. 1 hr a day 5 d/w working different parts of my body and doing different things like strength training, yoga, aerobics and a little kickboxing.
1) Problem below the belly button but above the pub line. Due to Caesarean section i had 20 years ago. Belly kind of crinkly and lose eventhough i have done thousand times of crunches!
2) Angry despite all the years of efforts i put in.
3) Definitely choice of clothes. I would like to have a smaller hips and firmer butts. At times out of frustration i console myself by saying ‘its genetic’ that’s nothing much i could do. My mum has big hips and butts! Bcos i have lost count on the number of lunges i have done in these years.
4) Absolutely happy and confident.
5) I work out 3 times a week in a gym. I usually spend about 30 minutes doing lower body exercises. Followed by a 15 minutes of good stretching.

All of these areas have loose skin, ripply feel, stretch marks, & ugliness to them.
Joey, these ugly images cause anger, blame, bitterness, depression, embarrassed, fearful of people judging me, & being ugly!
As the main goal for my lower body this would be to sculpt everything not just one area.
If a wand could be waved over the entire body… it would look beautiful, svelte, & toned.
It would mean a beauty deep within has developed, & better life principles are in focus now.
Relationships would be most enjoyable being thin because clothing would be sexier like bikinis!!

1. My lower thighs are toned, but my upper thighs are saggy. My worst body part is my lower stomach under the navel.
2. The thighs, stomach, are truly firmless. My but could use some fat off it to. The but go wide and thick, and seems that it just sits there. It is not a bertha-butt, but i do need to loose, 44 hips.
3.If I had a magic wand, I would flatten the belley, and the ultimate size would be 36-28-40, now I am 36-32-44. I would fit better in my suits size 14, and my overall out look for business would be great.

I just did the Trouble spot tune up for the first time yesturday and boy I could feel that I worked those muscles all day long. I believe you stated to do this 2-3 times a week. I felt with my 57inch hips I need all the help I can get. I also started Holly’s program this week so I felt that I could do her workout 3 days a week and your Trouble spot tune up in between… IS THIS OK? I have been working out for a while. With eating healthy and walking/aerobics I am down 50lbs since January but really have NOT seen a DRASTIC change in my clothes. I really want to work on my lower body. Is it ok to do the two together or will it be to much for me to handle?

I’m 45, slim and I run regularly and I still feel like the tops of my thighs are ugh! Jiggly and mushy looking. It makes me want to keep them covered up. A magic wand would make my thighs smooth and muscular like THEY SHOULD LOOK! I would gladly put in the time daily if I felt I would REALLY get results.

I am 31 years old and I have been struggling with my weight since I was about 15.
My Hips and thighs are big..especially my thigs..I can’t wear any pants or jeans that will show my thighs.
I did do weight training exercises but it didn’t help that much, I still do exercises mainly Pilates but still no improvement.
I am willing to give an hour everyday for a work out,even more.
This is the area which I dont like the most and I would feel more confident and happy if I can loose my thighs.

I’m currently 17 years of age and dreading the way I look. I’ve been to the gym and the such for 2 years and my problems have only gotten worse. My thighs have been rubbing together since I was 12 or so, and lately I’ve noticed I have a horrible case of cellulite on my butt and the sides of my legs. I feel so uncomfortable and scared even; I hate it so much and I feel so frustrated that nothing has worked.
I’ve always wanted to walk without my legs jiggling, be able to use the skirts and dresses I dare not touch (despite me loving them) and being able to kiss good-bye to cellulite for the first (and hopefully only time) ever. I’d be so much happier, and be feel ‘worthy’ for my lover. I’d know for sure I won’t disappoint him. Yay for self confidence! ^^
I’d dedicate anywhere between 10 minutes to 2 hours. My body is very important to me and I will do anything I can (that I can actually be guaranteed that will work) to make it feel and look better.
