Best Leg Lift Exercise for Toning, Slimming and Sculpting

A common question I get from many women is, “What’s the best leg lift exercise for toning and slimming my legs?”
What made me think about writing this article is actually not the question but an experience I had during my own lower body workout a few days ago.
I happened to be at the local YMCA and I was finishing up my leg workout off to the side on a mat in some open floor space. About 30 feet from me were two other women doing some of their own leg lift exercises.

I got up to get a quick drink at the water fountain and a woman who had been watching my whole leg workout while she was on the treadmill came over to me and said, “I was watching your whole workout and what surprises me is that you didn’t use any weights or leg machines and your legs and butt look amazing.”
I thanked her and briefly explained a bit of my ‘leg exercise’ philosophy. She then commented on the noticeable difference between how I was doing my leg lift exercises on the mat as compared to the 2 women who were also doing leg lift exercises on the floor. She asked me for some insight on this.
I explained, “Most people haven’t learned that leg exercise tempo, form, sequence and grouping are just as important as the actual exercises. Then you introduce ‘micro-varying’ to your leg exercise program and you really make things happen. You were watching me do all of these things. These were the differences you were seeing between me and the 2 women over there doing their own versions of leg lift exercises.”
So in answering the question, “What’s the best leg lift exercise for toning and slimming my legs?”…
There is no single best leg lift exercise - but rather how you perform the leg exercise in regards to exercise tempo, form, sequence and what other leg exercises you are grouping it with. Beyond that - you want to consider ‘micro-varying’ your leg exercises for long term progression.
This is where the best results are achieved and that is really what we are after. The best results - and not actually ‘the best leg lift exercise’.

What does “ULBHTM” mean?
I have been using ULBHTM for about 7 weeks and have seen great results so far, my problem is I cant seem to progress to the next level. like 2 sets of each exersize as recommended I just poop out. If I keep going with only 1 set will I continue to see results?????? cause baby I aint done yet
Yes, I am getting results! I purchased the ULBHTM a week ago, and I know I am going to come out of this w/my problem solved. sagging hanging skin on my inner thighs.
I know this because I have toned the other muscles on my legs in the past, so the way I see it there is no reason why this inner thigh muscle or (muscles) can’t be toned as well.
By toned I mean where there is a firmness there where the skin is flabby.
It was just finding the correct exercises! I have been working on other parts of my body and my legs for months, and seeing results, but my inner thighs were really hanging there. And I decided to look for a site that addressed this inner thigh problem and I came up on Joey’s site.
I knew instantly that his program would work for me.
He is like having a personal trainer right there with you. I have done the exercises 3 times from the ULBHTM and I can feel it and I know it’s working. I SWEAR My legs are less flabby.
I concentrate on the muscle and visualize what I want to accomplish. This works!

Hi Joey! Love reading your thoughts! I gave up weight training when I jumped on your train…. It’s been 7 weeks of doing your Ultimate Leg Butt Hip Thigh Workouts 3 times weekly with cardio 3 times weekly. I’ve noticed a change in my lower body, tighter, and firmer which is great , thank you for that, but I still want MORE results. You know us women always want more! But what’s funny is that unlike weight training, my legs are toast at the end of your workout ( especially level II, 2×15) but I’m never sore the next day. If I were lifting weights, my legs would be toast and I would “feel It” the next day or two…. why is that? Also, I really wish you threw in a handful of “calf trimmers” in the ULBHTM w.o. , because mine are soft and too thick, more noticeable when I’m laying down or there relaxed…. yes I know, we spend a lot of time ripping ourselves apart, but for the most part It’s what we see…..

My problem area is my inner thigh and some cellulite, ok maybe toning my thighs.. but I am losing my Curved hips what do I do?

I’ve been doing the ULBHTM for 3 weeks and I love it, my legs are on fire after each workout. But I wasn’t sure which categorie I fit into. I am not overweight but my thighs are larger than I’d like them to be. My body fat percentage as of 2 months ago was 15.5% which is pretty darn good. But, I’d like to try and slim out my thighs. They are quite muscily and large (I have to fit my jeans to my thighs not my hips) but of course I do have cellulite. Which progression should I stick with, the fat and flab reduction slimming and firming, or cellulite reduction and toning. I’d really like to slim these babies down to feel more proportionate. Also I’d like to know how it would affect my workouts if I did (week 4) 1 set of 16 reps instead of 2 sets of 8 reps. Would that hurt my progress, does it matter, and why? One more questions. I have been doing sprints mixed into the ULBHTM, how does that help or hinder my progress? And where can I find more information on the science behind this type of exercize. I work hard but I think it’s more important to work smart.

I have been suffering from my legs all my life ……always doing my best with the exercise…no result… couldn’t understand what you meant ,cause I really need it ..its my everlasting problem
I have been thinking for about a couple of years if I should pay the expensive price to have a personal trainer help me get rid of my body fat and start feeling better about myself til I saw Joey Atlas’ website! I gotta tell you ladies, Joey is like having your own personal trainer! HONEST!
I have found going to the gym boring, creating my own workout boring and those DVD exercises boring. I just don’t feel motivated to workout. But the nice thing about Joey is he understands women’s stubborn lower body fat spots and that motivates me to workout! Not only that but his weekly e-mail articles make me want to hurry home after work and turn on my computer to see what else is new!
I have always wanted to compete in a Ms. Fitness Competition and with Joey as my personal trainer, I’m sure I will be on my way someday!!
I have been using the ULBHTM almost a month 3x a week and have lost a few inches off my hips and thighs and my clothes are starting to fit nicely and everyday my muscles are on fire meaning they feel good and almost nice and tight.

Into my 4th week - doing the workout 3 times per week. Definitely notice a difference - even my daughter commented that I looked more toned from behind! I’ve been trying to slim and tone my legs for YEARS - I always used a treadmill up to 5 times per week, working up a sweat & my legs never seemed to improve! I’m very confident that this particular workout is going to work - I’m totally focussed & enjoy each time I do the workout & it seems to be more manageable, I really feel I’ve worked my muscles like never before at the end of each session. I am now on 2 sets of each exercise & will do another comment in another 4 weeks to let you know my personal progress. I agree with many of the others that it is like having your own personal trainer checking in on you because of getting the emails etc etc

I’ve started using your program 3 times a week and I can feel my muscles getting stronger. My question for you is that I am 38 yrs old and my skin on my hips and tops of my thighs is not as firm and has cellulite even though I am thin. Should I be adding in more cardio during other days?? Thanks

Hi there, I have a somewhat obsession of learning new workouts and fitness information and I do pretty well on know what workouts to do and so forth. However, I was wondering if you could tell me the difference between the exercises your selling and the ones I’m already doing. I know I need to perfect my form and I’ll get better results but I just wanted some more information before I take the plunge and buy your workout program, if I’m already doing similar exercises. Please help…

I just completed my first week of your program and LOVE IT!!! I wish that I had started it sooner, I’m already seeing and feeling results. My husband has notices already too. I just feel awesome during and after the workout. I just need to add some more tummy work and I’ll be set. I have taken before pics and am very tempted to send them in when I’m finished.
I’m a mother of 5, after 3 pregnancies 2 c-sections my lower body has taken a beating over the years. I am so glad that I fell across your site and actually ordered your program. I am already down at least 1/2 inch on each thigh and hips down almost 3/4inch. I have so much energy and I look forward to the next time I use the program.
