Get In Shape – Or Suffer the Consequences

This email came in a few weeks ago – in response to one of my snappy newsletters. I was going to answer this one, right here on the blog – but I thought of something a bit more fun – but still very helpful and insightful. YOU are going to put in your 2 cents in the ‘Comments’ section – after you read this email.

Here it is…

I am 50 yrs old, i weight 200 lbs., i have arthritis in my feet and my knees, it’s a mild form of it…but still sore at times….

i’m not a whiner and never have been…but i have noticed that i have become very tired lately.

My metabolism seems like its slowed downed compared to 10 yrs ago. I seem to look for comfort food ….i do work at General Motors in Canada on the line, but as you know we have been laid off a lot this year, and i have become inactive. I guess i am trying to enjoy the down time, but having said that, i am also do myself a disfavour.

So i joined the gym with my husband but yet to go and work out . My sister just passed away from thyroid cancer she was only 55.

Now i am really concerned for my health.

And now after reading your article on ridding myself of junk and fast foods, it has me motivated to get up and go to the gym and like the Nike slogan ” JUST DO IT”. I am just confused as to what i should be eating and how much….i don’t care for a lot of fish or shell foods…i do like chicken, turkey and beef ….i love most veggies and fruit….I have a 12 year old son and i look after him and my husband first before myself.

I know what i am capable of doing, it’s “JUST DOING IT”.

I need to rid myself of sugar that’s in my body. i have been taking the acidophilos, and it seems to work, i also think i need a chromium supplement to control my blood sugar. But i will tell you what i need most and that is ” ENERGY “. Is there something that you can suggest like siberian ginseng or a combination of something…I used to be in a business called _______ ______ and i took a product of theirs that was called T_________e, it was great i had energy, and i felt great. It also curbed my crave for sweets. Anyways, maybe you might have something like that i could take. But of course it has to meet our F.D.A standards….

well i guess that’s all….

i do love getting your e-mails, they are very inspirational and helpful …..

Thanks again,

C

Women Pay Heed: ‘Slim Chance’ Awards Issued

Women Pay Heed: ‘Slim Chance’ Awards Issued

Frances M. Berg, M.S., who operates the Healthy Weight Network http://www.healthyweightnetwork.com has issued the 20th annual set of “Slim Chance Awards” to weight-loss scheme promoters, diet scammers, and fitness gimmick pushers.

Her 2008 picks are:

**Most outrageous claim: Kevin Trudeau infomercials. Trudeau told listeners they could easily follow the diet protocol at home, even though his book calls for human growth hormone injections that must be provided by a licensed practitioner. FTC action resulted in a court order for a $5+ million assessment and a three-year ban from doing infomercials.

**Worst gimmick: Skineez jeans ($139). The jeans were said to be impregnated with retinol and chitosan that would be released by friction and absorbed in to the body to fight “cellulite.”

**Worst claim:
AbGONE. Throughout 2008 full-page ads touted AbGONE as “proven to promote pot belly loss,” increase fat metabolism”and calorie burn, promote appetite suppression, and inhibit future abdominal fat deposits.

The ads featured before-and-after shots of models, cut-away sketches of the abdomen with and without belly fat, and a white-coated researcher with a chart purportedly confirming success of 5 times reduction in fat mass, 4 times lower BMI, and 4 times greater weight loss than placebo. The ads stated that no added diet and exercise were needed, but a fine-print disclaimer said “diet and exercise are essential.”

**Worst product:
Kimkins diet. Heidi “Kimmer” Diaz promised loss of up to 5% of body weight in 10 days. She also claimed to have lost 198 pounds in 11 months and showed before-and-after pictures that turned out to be fakes. Many users developed chest pains, hair loss, heart palpitations, irritability, and menstrual irregularities caused by the near-starvation (500 calorie per day) diet.

Watch every diet product commercial and read every weight loss or fitness gimmick advertisement with a suspicious eye and a clear mind. These companies can get away with a lot of BS until enough complaints are filed or someone dies.

Don’t fall for this stuff.

Infomercial Fitness Products for Women: What’s the Deal???!!!

- by Joey Atlas: ‘The Woman’s Trainer’
______________________________________________________________________________

Every minute of the day (and night) there are infomercials hocking all sorts of products. A large percentage of these are exercise products, targeted at women and their lower body trouble spots & problem areas – something I’m an expert in, arguably one of THE top experts in the world.

You may be surprised to know that I watch these marketing presentations on a regular basis. But unlike every other viewer – I’m watching them from a totally different perspective. I’ll expand upon that in the future…

In the last few months – something has transpired that’s been brewing for a few years now. Several factors came together and a flash of brilliance caused me to open my inventor’s notebook and start sketching my concept.

First – What are the ‘factors’?

1 – My disgust and dismay for the outright lies on these infomercials.

2 – The consumer reports and complaints about the products sold via infomercials.

3 – A challenge that was issued by someone – for me to create a product (home exercise unit) which incorporates and enhances my methods in The Ultimate Leg, Butt, Hip and Thigh Makeover.

4 – A realization that the Atlas Bodyweight and Band, Family Home Gym contains a component that can be perfectly utilized in the lower body unit for women. (NOTE: The Atlas Bodyweight and Band, Family Home Gym is being designed and prototyped as we speak. The first one will be built for use in my home, by me and my family. Once the Patent documents are filed – I will post some of the design graphics on one of my blogs.)

What does this mean?

It means I’m working on a female specific, home exercise apparatus which allows my methods in The Leg, Butt, Hip and Thigh Makeover program to be further enhanced and expanded.

What does this have to do with infomercials?

Infomercials have a literal monopoly on exercise gadgets that target specific areas of the body – for the male or female gender. The main problem, however, is that most – and I mean the VAST majority type of most – simply do not deliver on promised results.

The reasons why are obvious (to me) – however, I’m not here to criticize other institutions – but what I can do is create something better that delivers results above and beyond anything else that is on the market.

As an independent fitness leader – my main goal is to truly help people succeed.

Infomercial companies, on the other hand, have a different primary goal: to maximize profits for company owners and/or shareholders. The customer(s) come second or third or fourth…

The power of the internet provides solo professionals, like me, the opportunity to “do things my way” – and literally compete with the ‘giant companies’ by delivering a very targeted, friendly and client-plus-results oriented business model.

As I develop the (1) Atlas Family Home Gym and the (2) ‘lower body apparatus’ for women (I can’t reveal the name just yet) – I will share more and more details on my blogs and in my newsletters.

The ‘invention’ and ‘new product’ field has many twists and turns, sometimes quite challenging and brain-bending. BUT, because it’s in the area where I’ve been gifted and where my long standing passion is fueled – It’s very fun and rewarding to slowly bring a concept to reality with the aim of helping others succeed in areas of their life where they’ve been unsuccessful before.

If you have any thoughts, comments, questions – or just want to volunteer your brainstorm ideas – please post them below by clicking on that oval ‘Comments’ button… – I’ll be reading all of them.

Joey Atlas
